THOMAS KRING
I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT PEOPLE AND HOW THEY BEHAVE.

How I Work
Description of the competences I use most in my work.
I’m Thomas. Based in Copenhagen with 5 years experience in bringing clients and users closer together.

Have a look at some of the projects below.

USER STUDIES
If you want to know why your users behave the way they do you need to observe and talk to them to find what makes them passionate. I’m working with field studies, in-depth interviews, user journeys and workshops in order to get usable findings about your users.

Project Management
A big part of my motivation is aligning the client with the user. That is why I always start a project with a focus on the needs of the user and the client. This way the end goal of the project adds more value to both parts.

Concept Development
Ideas are not that hard to get. But getting ideas that are in line with the client’s product and the user is a bit harder. I’ve been working with different clients through idea generation and critical thinking methods.

CREATIVITY
I use a lot of different methods and tools in order to get the insights needed to get innovative solutions. One of my most important methods is creativity or a thinking outside the box mentality.

My Skills
Short Description of IT-Skills

How I use the different programs:
Sometimes when working with clients on a project I find that the easiest and most intuitive way of illustrating and explaining is with paper and pen.

It is still highly effective and necessary later in the process to get more professional illustrations where the client has the opportunity to experience a product hands on or get more in-depth knowledge about the users.

Most of the programs I’m using are self-taught and I use them as an extended part of my workflow in order to get my findings across as intuitive and precise as possible to the client.

GN Netcom Mobile Office Workers

Project
Description

In order to meet the development of mobile workers it was essential for GN to increase their understanding of the mobile worker and how changes in their daily lives and routines will affect future demands.

How to get a realistic view of the mobile workers daily work routine and how to identify scenarios that are key points in meeting the mobile workers demands.

Approach

Through cultural probes, user studies and observations information about the every day life of the mobile worker was collected. The workers wrote a diary and took photos in order to register their daily routine. Through observations and interviews I gained a deeper understanding of their needs and how to identify key points for each mobile worker.

Results

The findings were many but in short – for the mobile worker tools are very important. They help them communicate and through this do their work. Tools are everything from traditional e-mails to cloud-based file sharing. These are essential key points for the mobile worker.
